My memories of Brighton Le Sands

 Mercedes Vetisch

I came from Dee Why to Brighton Le Sands in 1998.   My husband died in 1990.  My boys got married in 1993 and the house in Dee Why was too big for me.  My first impression of Brighton was not the best. I did regret the move. Brighton was not like it is today.  Everything was very different from Dee Why.  The buses were old.  But it was a very quiet place with nice, friendly people always greeting you.

Now I miss very much my old Brighton.    In the past we had no need to go to the big supermarkets.  When I first came here we had a small supermarket called Flemings, a very good butcher,  fruit shop, chicken shop,  delicatessen, and  two banks. All these shops have disappeared.  Instead we have too many restaurants and cafes.  At least the Fish and Chips are still here. But Brighton is a very convenient place to live today. We do have good transport and have other shops.

In earlier years, I remember getting my book and going to the beach to relax.   You can’t do this today.  The beach is too crowded.  You can’t find a seat, especially on Saturdays and Sundays.

I miss very much my old Brighton village and  the way we were before.

Diann espero que no estes muy disgustada conmigo  por ser una alumna que no retiene tus lecciones con facilidad. Muchisimas gracias por todo lo que has hecho por mi.
